SpareOne wins the 2013 Taiwan Excellence Silver Award.

SpareOne has recently won an excellence award for a multitude of characteristics, including quality, aesthetics, and innovation, this time from the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), taking the Silver category in the Taiwan Excellence Awards! This year, there were over 1,000 entries from almost 500 companies, with SpareOne taking a top 30 spot. We will be on display at the Taipei Airport and at Computex Taipei 2013 in June, along with several other winners.

“Products that earn Taiwan Excellence awards are of the highest quality while being aesthetically pleasing, environmentally friendly and boasting user-friendly designs,” a TAITRA official said.

TAITRA is sponsored by the Taiwanese government to recognize successful and innovative companies, as well as to promote consumer awareness of local manufacturers that are socially responsible and that provide product differentiation to the market.

“We are very proud and honored to receive this award. SpareOne has become a game-changing preparedness device since its launch, gaining international notoriety for its innovation and ability to keep lines of communication open when power is completely unavailable or inaccessible,” said Alan Cymberknoh, SpareOne Project Director at XPAL Power.

Prepared for Any Emergency

Being prepared is important. Being prepared for anything is critical. Blogger Michelle, of Sparkle Me Pink, has been following a popular reality show called ‘Doomsday Preppers.’ When Michelle reviewed the SpareOne the relevancy of being prepared popped up in relation to the show.

I know Mike and i have gotten sucked into watching like 4 episodes in a row before  ;-) – same thing happens to us with Duck Dynasty too – If you haven’t watched it before it is a TV series revolved around families who prep for the end of the world. I actually find their tactics quite fascinating but usually a bit too extreme for the us or even (I think) the ‘normal’ family. However, Mike and I banded together and comprised what preppers call a Bug Out Bag. Which includes non-expiring essentials – just in case we ever needed to leave the house due to an emergency, natural disaster or of course if the zombie apocalypse ensues. More than likely we will never even need this bag but it is nice to know/ gives us peace of mind that we do have it ready.—Michelle, SparkleMePink Blog

Michelle’s Bug Out Bag contains essential supplies for an emergency.—including the SpareOne Emergency phone.  The 15 year shelf life of the included AA battery used to power the device, and the submersible, waterproof (and talk through) bag made the decision a no-brainer.

The Steel Cave features SpareOne

The Steel Cave, ‘a great place to read about new trending items for men’, took some time to review the SpareOne, the world’s first emergency mobile phone powered by a single AA battery. Tim makes it a point to talk about what sets SpareOne apart and talks about how it’s right for nearly anyone—even if you have a “non-techy” family member.

Oh did I mention the battery that SpareOne chose is the Energizer Ultimate Lithium battery which they claim can power this phone for up to 15 years. Great if you have a member of your family who lets say.. isn’t exactly technologically inclined or just to keep in your vehicle for emergency purposes. This phone Boasts one touch emergency calls with no sim card required but has a sim card slot, so that if you want to take it overseas and use a local carrier, you can do so with great ease.—Tim, The Steel Cave

Editorial note: Depending on where you live, you may need to have a different GSM band for overseas travel. For more information about the GSM bandwidths (and where they are used in the world), please check out our GSM Map.

Daily Grommet Features SpareOne

319 A letterhead

Daily Grommet, an online shopping site and product launch platform for innovative and undiscovered products, is working with SpareOne to feature a new emergency phone that can access 911 without any SIM card or service.

Daily Grommet is proud to feature this product as it fills a need for innovative technology that is meant for emergency purposes only. SpareOne is communication someone can count on. It’s an emergency phone that operates on a single AA battery. No need to plug it in; untouched, it will keep its charge for up to 15 years. If an emergency happens — say one’s driving and the cell phone runs out of juice, — SpareOne is there as a backup.

One battery provides 10 hours of talk time and 24 hours of flashlight use. It can use it’s own SIM card, which will enable someone to dial phone numbers and to continue sending and receiving calls from their own phone number. But a SIM card isn’t necessary to make emergency calls. SpareOne provides one-button emergency dialing, even without a SIM card.

The phone comes in a waterproof pouch that floats, and it’s designed to work in extreme temperatures (-22 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). Stash one in a glove compartment for road emergencies, and keep one in a disaster preparedness kit at home. When someone is traveling, they can buy a local SIM card with prepaid minutes and use SpareOne to avoid racking up roaming charges on their everyday mobile phone. SpareOne also works great with prepaid minutes for someone who only wants a mobile phone for occasional calls or emergencies and doesn’t need multimedia whistles and bells.

About Daily Grommet
